With growing complaints on social media that a user named Buster Hernandez, who uses the name “Brian Clay,” posted threatening and harassing messages to underage women via Facebook, the user came under FBI pursuit. The statement said the person took all the necessary precautions to avoid capture, managed to avoid the FBI's pursuit each time, whereupon the FBI managers asked Facebook for help. At the request of the FBI, Facebook purchased an enhanced 0-day on Tails from a cybersecurity firm and used it to learn the real IP address of a person named Buster Hernandez. According to the statement, exploit uses a vulnerability in the tails video player application to expose the actual IP address of the person viewing the video.

As a result of this operation, Buster Hernandez, whose real IP and location were identified, was arrested and charged with 41 separate offences.

A Facebook spokesman said in a statement that extraordinary steps had been taken to bring Buster Hernandez, who committed disgraceful crimes, to justice. It was confirmed that Hernandez was working with “security experts” for the hacking.
